It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I set up the tree over the weekend and wish I could say it went without a hitch. For the first time in years I actually had a problem with the lights! Two strings of lights I had half burned out. Rather than try to find the one that's burned out, I went and got new lights. Then come to find out that the plug on one of them is faulty. Of course it's 12:30 on Saturday night when I discover this so rather than go all weekend without lights on the tree, I made do. The kids love helping to decorate the tree. Kenny G's Miracles, Faith and Jim Brickman's The Gift was playing in the background while we drank hot chocolate and watched the twinkling lights. The magic of Christmas filling the air with each ornament we put on the tree.
One of the things I have on the tree is the little baby Jesus (a little plastic baby wrapped in "swaddling clothes" laying in a walnut shell). It was so sweet to see Jared's face when he discovered this. I purposely put it on the tree at his eye level so that he would see it. Of course it hasn't stayed on the tree much. He carries it around with him every where he goes and is always telling us about the baby Jesus.
Throughout this season as we go about our busy lives, don't forget the reason we celebrate this special season: the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

love the pictures! your tree is so pretty. that's funny about jared. my friend has a snowflake ornament on her tree with a picture of jesus in the middle of it. her little 18 month old saw the ornament and said "jesus, jesus". it was the first time my friend heard her daughter say jesus. i think you're totally on target with the reason for this season. we're having our christmas enrichment tomorrow and i'm excited that this is really starting!

Sweet story of your friends' daughter Shelby! Thanks for sharing that! How did your enrichment activity go?

We keep two nativities under our tree for our kids to play with, it keeps their little fingers off of mine (last year my poor donkey lost both ears, gotta love super glue and an aged looking nativity)!! So I was talking with my mom the other day and she told me a story that I thought would be fun to share with you. When we were kids growing up, we couldn't keep our hands off of the nativity just like all little children. Many times my mom would notice baby Jesus MIA, and where did she find him? Sleeping with us in our beds. Its so sweet how children come to earth remembering and loving Jesus... its only too bad that as we grow up we tend to forget.

I love that last picture of the little hands (are they Jared's?)holding the baby Jesus. It will be fun when Bryson (and our future kids) to get old enough to help decorate the tree.
